The Beta Reader Program
The RBWG connects writers with readers who can provide valuable beta feedback. Here’s how it works:
For Interested Beta Readers
- Sign Up:
If you're a RBWG member and want to volunteer as a beta reader, simply fill out the Beta Reader Volunteer Form. Your name will be added to our list of volunteer readers. - Receive Notifications:
When a writer requests beta readers, the Guild will send an email to all volunteers. The email will include key details about the project, such as:- Genre
- Word count
- Desired feedback timeframe
- Additional details from the writer
- Choose Projects:
If you’re interested in a project, reach out to the writer directly. Together, you’ll agree on expectations, a timeline, and any specific feedback the writer needs. - Provide Feedback:
The writer will send you their work digitally. After reading the piece, you’ll provide constructive feedback, noting both strengths and areas for improvement. The format and style of your feedback will be decided between you and the writer. - Protect Copyrights:
Remember, the writer’s work is their intellectual property. Do not share, copy, or distribute any material without the author’s written permission. - Follow-Up:
After the process, both you and the writer will receive a brief survey from the Beta Reader Team to share feedback about your experience and the program’s value.
Why Participate?
As a beta reader, you’ll help fellow writers refine their work while honing your own critical reading and storytelling skills. Plus, you’ll play a vital role in supporting the creative community!
